Merritt played 18 holes of golf on Monday, fell ill and died peacefully and painlessly in his hospital chair Saturday morning, while waiting for a follow-up visit with my sister, who saw him earlier in the week. Pretty much the best we could ever hope for, and he was ready to go. The closing words he wanted on his funeral order of service were…

Funeral arrangements by Highland Funeral Home in Scarborough. Combined Visitation Wednesday July 26th at 12:30pm to 2pm with a funeral service to follow, both at the Donway Covenant United Church, Don Mills.
